Indigenous Bayan, in North Lombok (KLU), Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) impose a fine buffalo for its citizens who cut down the trees in the indigenous
forest.

Rianom Chairman of the Institute of Indigenous Institution Shack Karang Bajo, District Bayan explains, this is one of the local knowledge of indigenous peoples Bayan protecting the environment, especially forests. The fines will be handed over to traditional authorities to hold a purification ritual. While buffalo and rice will be cooked and eaten together with all indigenous peoples Bayan.

Rianom said, these rules are also subject to the general public. Although not part of the indigenous people, they are proven to cut down or destroy indigenous forests will be reported to the local government.
