East Carstensz Peak is one of three peaks in Indonesia, two others are Puncak Jaya and Sumantri peak, which has eternal snow. There too, there is an ice cave!
Ali Rahman is one of the climbers who are members of a team of journalists to Carstensz Expedition 2015, along with detikTravel. The expedition took place in August, which traveled from Sugapa to Ugimba to climb Carstensz.
Ali including climbers lucky, because in addition to climb the Carstensz Peak is the highest point in Indonesia (4884 masl) and one of the world's Seven Summit, he also had to explore the other peaks in the vicinity. One of them is Carstensz East.
"From Basecamp lakes to the summit of Carstensz East, farther than to Puncak Jaya. Could approximately 3 hours," he said
Ali climb to the summit of Carstensz East along Eldest Prasetyo, a journalist from Sinar Harapan. The author himself can not come, because it must berisitrahat drop due to the condition of the body. Foot pain is not playing after walking 6 days and was vomiting when walking at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level.

Further to the East Carstensz Peak story, Ali admits there is a path already marked with piles of stones. Until finally they get to the ridge Carstensz East with permafrost that is in plain sight. The high has about 4,500 meters above sea level.
"That there is ice and no snow. So there were hard as ice and no snow and could disappear. I hold, oh so nonetheless feels the snow," recalls Ali.
Not only that, Ali even saw some ice caves there. Ali even try to go into it to see up close and photograph. Snap! The result is remarkable, as it was not in Indonesia alone.
"He said, if the ice cave which is part of the ice beneath the blue, its age has millions epidemic because bentukannya solid. But I do not know well to look for information anymore," he explained.
According to Ali, some cave shaped like an avalanche. The inside of the cave was not very big. There are cracks or crevices, but it is very unlikely to be explored because it is too narrow.
Ali also see black spots which are numerous in ice-permafrost there. From the information I've ever heard, dark spots are touted as dirt.
"It was indeed black spots like dirt, a lot of you know in the ice. Whether it results from the mining company or dust or anything," he said.

But unfortunately, Ali not to climb to the top of Carstensz East which reaches about 4,860 meters above sea level. Therefore, the ascent equipment was not available as complete as krampon boots (for walking on ice) and others.
Ali did not want to take risks, because he could have fallen down due to slippery. Ali can only get punggungannya alone and felt she had enough. Moreover, it could see the ice cave.
"Climbers climbing Carstensz, would aim to climb the Carstensz Puncak, Puncak Jaya, Sumantri and Carstensz East, it's just a bonus," he concluded.Source ; DetikTravel
